Local Pottery is both my working studio and artisan gallery featuring studio ceramics and fine craft. I opened my shop in Pembroke, Massachusetts, on the beautiful South Shore eighteen years ago. Moving to Norwell in 2014 fulfilled my dream of expanding the gallery in a spacious, light-filled, post and beam building where I continue to make, teach and share my passion for all manner of ceramics.
I believe that handmade things enhance our lives in so many ways. Since opening my studio gallery, my focus has been to provide the local community with access to finely crafted art pottery as well as a ceramic art studio in which it is made.
My strong interest in handcrafted pottery for use in the kitchen and in entertaining drives the collection. I love the connections between maker and user that deepen over time. I have a firm belief that the transformation of quality materials through skilled craftsmanship and human creativity can enhance our experience in deeply meaningful ways.
My customers are all manner of cooks, gourmets and foodies, as well as collectors and fans of art, creative expression, beauty, surface and color, gardening and nature.
While the studio gallery is a destination for anyone looking for handmade wedding gifts, handmade pottery, ceramic vases and bowls, studio art and unique, one-of-a-kind treasures, I am very happy to see folks stopping by just to say hello and enjoy the latest work. I believe the process of collecting is one to be savored, never rushed and always a good bit of fun.
I encourage people to stop by frequently, and never to feel that they have to buy something. I am very grateful to my customers for their deep appreciation, understanding and support of this wonderful craft, its makers and especially for their contribution to our lively conversation when they visit.
I'm so glad you have found your way to my website. Be sure to peruse the Artists/Artisan section, where you will see some of the art in the artisan gallery. Each artist, every piece of his or her work, is hand selected by me personally. In "Lisa's Latest," I post favorite recipes, ideas on food presentation, my newest inspirations, and the occasional new pot.
I hope to see you soon!
